Grischka's bsetroot Update 2003-12-21 20:03:02
There's been an update to grischka's bsetroot mod. The latest build, 2.0b1 released today, adds the -vdesk switch. This will draw the background image to fill the entire virtual desk space. For the most part only people who are using multiple monitors will notice anything new here :)
Check out that changelog for all the goodies in this mod, it's avialable here. Keep up the good work grischka!

BB.90 optimized for P4 & AthlonXP 2003-12-16 15:39:03
If you don't frequent the Shell Forums, you really should start :) Just today I found this wonderful posting by bladestaylor, it seems that he's been playing around with his new compiler and decided to produce some optomized builds of BB4Win for Pentium 4 and AthlonXP processors. At this time it hasn't been reported as to if and/or how this improves performance, but if you are using a Pentium 4 or AthlonXP you can check out this optomized builds and tell us what you think.

Style Authors: Your Help Is Needed! 2003-12-16 13:35:32
grischka, the BBLean developer, is looking for a few good styles to include with the next version of BBLean. BBLean 1.10 is in what appears to be a final round of beta testing, with a release expected soon(tm). As seen in this forum post, he would like to include some of your favorite styles in the BBLean release package. Send him your favorite style(s) and you might just find them included in the lastest version of BBLean. He does ask that they onle use simple bsetroot/bsetbg background gradients, and not images, but seeing all the talent we have out there, I don't think it'll be a problem. So support your community and your hard working developers and send grischka a style today!

BB4Win/xoblite on TechTV's The Screensavers 2003-12-11 19:43:29
As many of you may know, BB4Win and more specificly xoblite were featured on TechTV's The Screensavers! For those of you who do not have cable or missed the show, you can read the article here and see the show here. Thanx to dark-e for recording that (whoever you are :-P ). While I think it was cool to be shown off on such a show, the backlash from site outages is pretty bad. As of the writing of this, BB4win.org is currently down until someone can get in touch with the host, and crackmonkey.us has also been down for almost 24 hours due to DNS issues (apparenlty my ISP thought I was being DOS'd and forced my DHCP client to a new IP...) Things will return to some state of normalicy soon I hope :-P

To all you BB4Win/xoblite/BBLean n00bs hanging about: Welcome to the world of Blackbox! An updated versiopn of the BB4Win documentation can be found here. You can find the FAQ here and here. Also check out the forums if you need some help here. If you are running into an error for WriteBool, WriteInt, WriteString, or similar, then you need a nightly release of BB4Win which you can find here! Just a warning that if you download a nightly, you will need to download the DesktopHook.dll as well, it goes in the same folder as blackbox.exe. Hope that all helps!
